Finding Greek-speaking home care for a parent can bring questions about services, schedules, providers, and payment. AGAPE helps you work through all of them. Through the Hellenic Care Initiative, we offer free guidance in Greek and English across New York City, Long Island, and Westchester, with a familiar point of contact throughout the process.

We start with your family’s needs

We take time to understand the help your loved one needs at home, from bathing and dressing to meals, mobility, and everyday routines. Together, we identify the days and hours that are difficult, what support is already in place, and what matters to your parent. We organize those details and, with your permission, help communicate them as we explore suitable care options.

We explain the provider options

Home care agencies in New York have different service models. Certified Home Health Agencies (CHHAs) provide part-time, intermittent health care and support. Licensed Home Care Services Agencies (LHCSAs) offer home care services through a different model. AGAPE explains these differences and helps clarify which services and assessments may be relevant to your family. [1]

We help review provider information, including service areas and available inspection information in New York State’s Home Care Profiles. We also help clarify what a provider can offer for your particular situation, including current Greek-speaking aide availability. [2]

We bring language, location, and schedule together

A suitable match involves more than a language preference. AGAPE helps explore Greek-speaking home health aide or personal care aide availability for your neighborhood, requested hours, and support needs. We help communicate how your loved one prefers to use Greek and what comfortable everyday communication means to them.

With your permission, we help gather answers about staffing, supervision, coverage when an aide is absent, and how concerns or changes are handled. We explain the information with you so your family can make an informed choice. Availability depends on the provider and the specific arrangement; our guidance helps you understand the options that are actually available.

We help your family’s cultural preferences be heard

Familiar meals, daily routines, holidays, privacy preferences, and faith traditions can be part of feeling understood at home. We listen to your loved one’s preferences and help communicate them when exploring providers and support arrangements. Greek-speaking care is personal: we focus on the individual rather than assuming every Greek family wants the same things.

We guide you through payment and enrollment questions

AGAPE helps you understand possible payment pathways, including private payment, insurance, or public programs when the individual meets the relevant criteria. We guide families through Medicaid-related next steps and help clarify the assessments, applications, authorizations, and documents that may be needed. [3]

With your permission, we help gather case-specific information from the appropriate providers, plans, and professionals and explain the next steps with you. Coverage and service approvals depend on the applicable requirements; we help you navigate the process and understand what has been confirmed.

We stay involved as the next steps take shape

We help organize the options discussed, information received, pending questions, and practical follow-up. As your family considers an arrangement, we help clarify the proposed services, schedule, communication, and next steps. If needs or circumstances change, AGAPE remains available for guidance and help communicating the changes.

Start with AGAPE, whether you have a specific question or simply know that your loved one needs help. Through the Hellenic Care Initiative, we will guide you through exploring Greek-speaking home care and the steps that follow.
